Star Gazing on the Farm
Gates open an hour before sunset. There is no entry after sunset, as not to disrupt viewing of the sky with car lights. Bring a blanket, snacks, and enjoy. Headphones, art supplies, and a camera are welcome. No flash photography, please don’t feed the animals, and take your waste with you. This is a self-led event. Come in, pick a spot next to the orchard where the sky is clear, relax, and head home afterwards.

Community Connection
Family-owned and deeply soul-rooted, The Salty Nymph Sanctuary is more than a farm—it’s a safe space for humans who identify as black sheep, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, or simply in need of gentle respite from the struggles of day-to-day life. Here, freedom, softness, and radical care bloom alongside herbs, flowers, and figs.
Located just inside the Hephzibah line on nearly five acres of intentionally held land, the Sanctuary was born from lived experience, activism, and love. With almost two decades of professional photography, event coordination, wedding expertise, and community activism for human rights, establishing The Salty Nymph Sanctuary felt like the natural next step in its founders' life journeys.
Run by Daniel and Alexandréa Johnson, a couple who met in Augusta in 2007 and have been building a life together since, the Sanctuary reflects their devotion to healing and joy. Daniel, a Navy Veteran, and Alexandréa, a Trauma Therapist, End-of-Life Doula, and therapeutic photographer, are partners in love, parenting, and purpose.
When you visit the land, you’ll be welcomed by a curious collection of four-legged family members. Goats could likely greet you first, while our sweet, liberated felines roam as freely as our guests. Dogs, cats, bearded dragons, piggies, and even a gentle ball python hold their own medicine. And don’t be alarmed if you are confused with a flower by our resident honeybees. As we often say, we make space for expansion in a world that wants you small.
